The
Cook Islands Cultural Village opened on 1 November 1988 and
is privately owned and operated. It is a family business with
originally Mr Sadaraka (Cookie) Sadaraka as Managing Director,
and his wife Mrs Lois Sadaraka as General Manager.
The
village is situated on the back road in the village of Arorangi
(map). It is well
sited between the two largest hotels on the island: The Rarotongan
Beach Resort & Spa and the Edgewater Resort on an area
of approximately five acres, attractively landscaped. It comprises
of a number of 'are' or huts (please see our village
plan) and is an organised tour, with different tour options
available. (tour options).
In
1995 the Cook Islands Cultural Village won the South Pacific
Kodak Heritage/Cultural Award fo Excellence in Tourism. Since
opening, more than 120000 visitors have been 'cultured' at
