This is our heritage. Come share it with us!

The Cook Islands Cultural Village opened on 1 November 1988 and is privately owned and operated. It is a family business with originally Mr Sadaraka (Cookie) Sadaraka as Managing Director, and his wife Mrs Lois Sadaraka as General Manager.

The village is situated on the back road in the village of Arorangi (map). It is well sited between the two largest hotels on the island: The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Spa and the Edgewater Resort on an area of approximately five acres, attractively landscaped. It comprises of a number of 'are' or huts (please see our village plan) and is an organised tour, with different tour options available. (tour options).

In 1995 the Cook Islands Cultural Village won the South Pacific Kodak Heritage/Cultural Award fo Excellence in Tourism. Since opening, more than 120000 visitors have been 'cultured' at the village. Here are some of their comments from our visitors' book:

"Highlight of our visit" NZ

"What a great day. Thanks" USA
"We have travelled the world and enjoyed this the most. Wonderful!" UK
